Welcome to the New

What makes normal? Why is it the new normal? New is always normal, as the world is constantly changing.

What is so Wrong with the New Normal?

To me, nothing is wrong with the New Normal. It's how the human race has been alive for this long. We've grown, evolved, and adapted to all our new normals that have come our way.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still going on, we are starting to realize that the new normal for people isn't going anywhere, and don't worry to all those who think masks are taking away your rights, they aren't; plus they are only a temporary normal. The new normal we will see is the plexiglass staying around, and new social protocols that people will adopt.

I did an article a ways back about adaptability, I highly suggest reading it as it is important for us to keep thriving as a species. We each have to understand that normal is change and it will always be new.

Change is inevitable and it wills all come at you whether you are ready or not. It's better to make sure you are ready for that change no matter what it is because it is going to be your new normal.

The term "New Normal" isn't a phrase to be vilified or condemned in any way. As a matter of fact, it is a term that should be celebrated. We go throw new things every day and they become our normal in the end. Everything from growing into an adult to having kids, getting a job, writing new articles, and just everyday events create something new for us which in turn becomes normal.

The problem I do see with the "New Normal" is inherently a flaw in humans. Yes, that's right it's a flaw within us, not all of us; however, it is a lot of us. That flaw is a fear of change.

Yes, the fear of change is why we don't like the term "New Normal." It makes us uncomfortable and has us face the reality that things change and nothing stays the same. We've become complacent in the world around us and when something isn't the way we remember it or like it; we either fear it or hate it or both.

Have no fear, my friend. Change is to be embraced and celebrated. This is going to make you stronger and more resilient. Some of what is going on now won't last and somethings will endure. We will get used to some of these new concepts and will wonder how we lived before without them.

There are things I want to get back to the "old normal" and until then I embrace the "temporary normal" and enjoy the new normal.

I hope enjoyed this as much as did.

Ride Hard, and Live Long.

Sincerely,

Rob Hicks
