The Good Ol’ Days
I'm sorry to say it but the good old days are now long gone!
From here on in everything is different and everything is going to change as it relates to this global pandemic crisis with COVID-19.
As a planet and a race of beings inhabiting this planet, we have faced down other major viral and bacterial catastrophes in our short but storied past. Nothing quite like this though.
With the level of knowledge and information, we have at our fingertips and science being further advanced than ever before. This one seeming simple virus has caused a complete global shut down of the economy, travel, and is probably going to wipe out a number of businesses and financial funds.
The leaders of the world are calling a recession when in fact we could be heading into a depression. Now I am not trying to be all doom and gloom here. In fact with the effects of COVID-19 can and will come some new and positive effects for businesses, industries, and individuals at large.
We are coming to a crossroads where people are trying to keep working to make services are provided and the tipping point of corporate greed. There are some really amazing companies out there you hear stepping up constantly to make sure their workers are taken care of during this time of crisis, and then you hear about other companies that won't change hours up to help the overwhelmed workers cope with everything, and how they won't let them relaxing off on minor things.
The lockdown of the world will truly show where the true leaders are and businesses that are worthy of patronage because of how they have stepped and created a true culture of caring, safety, and respect for those who work within the company. The new changes that are coming through this pandemic are going to broad and sweeping.
The Internet is a huge saviour for a lot of different businesses, especially in retail. All they need to do is make sure they have an eCommerce site to continue on selling. Those who can adapt to this new climate will thrive and those cannot, will not.
Through the lockdown. we could also see the bigger rise in more internet celebrities and youtube shows that will disrupt more of the mainstream media and upset those who don't make these moves while isolating. DJ D-Nice had a massive Instagram party and everyone was invited. What a great idea and a fantastic way to engage people in a new socially acceptable way. This is why social media was built in the first place was to help us connect with multiple people over great distances and now more then ever this tool is going to bring social distancing to the masses and we will get a whole new medium for us to be entertained by.
